Hohengoeft

The village of Hohengoeft (the “village near the high viewpoint”, a translation of the central German “Zu dem hohen Geft”) had a population of 480 at the last census. The highest point in the commune is the Goeftberg rising to 397m, making it in effect the summit of the Kochersberg. Here also you will find the 1772 Way of the Cross and the Saint-Wendelin chapel, erected in 1666 to thank God for preserving the village from an outbreak of the plague.
