We had the honor of meeting Éric Lux, current manager of the Hostellerie À l’Étoile to introduce us to his establishment. By granting ourselves this interview, we were able to discover this place so appreciated by our inhabitants and our tourists. Ideally located in the heart of Wasselonne, it is on the market square that the Hostellerie de l’Étoile stands proudly opposite the town hall.
The origins of the Hostellerie À l’Étoile
Built in 1776 in Wasselonne, the Hostellerie À l’Étoile welcomes us in its original building, which has now been renovated in places. Through the different eras that have passed, its old-world charm still breathes through the walls, wood and doors that immerse us in settings from the past.

It was 200 years after the construction of this hostel, in 1976, that the Lux family became the owners of the restaurant, which at the time had only 4 rooms. 20 years later, in 1996, she decided to set up a hotel in addition to her restaurant. It has 33 rooms with authentic character and is located in a building at the back of the restaurant, in a quiet courtyard where guests can park their vehicles.
When we enter this establishment located in the heart of Wasselonne, we immediately immerse ourselves in this place steeped in history that has kept its family values throughout the generations. Oscillating between traditional and more modern decoration, we are seduced by this mix of generations. The centrepiece of this establishment remains the impressive banquet hall located on the first floor of the restaurant. With its original counter and the wood that adorns the huge room, we are immediately transported back to a time when theatre performances were given on the stage at the back of the hall.
What are the specialties at the Hostellerie À l’Étoile?
This traditional 2-star restaurant classified Logis de France offers a menu composed of Alsatian specialties. He is also a member of the sauerkraut brotherhood!
If you are a fan of the tasty and tasty dishes that can only be found in Alsace, you will undoubtedly enjoy the delicious dishes on the menu. Of course, one of the restaurant’s signature dishes is the traditional sauerkraut.
