The town of Westhoffen organizes its annual big cherry festival! This year again, the festival awaits you on June 2nd and 4th, as well as on June 10th, 11th, and 17th, with a very extensive program of activities.

The Cherry Festival is what makes Westhoffen famous, and that's why the village holds the title of "Cherry Capital of Alsace." During its traditional Cherry Festival, the main street is closed to traffic, and the village comes to life with stands from local cherry producers, local products, exhibitions by artists and craftsmen, as well as various entertainment. This genuine popular rural festival also allows you to watch parades featuring musicians and artists from Alsatian folklore.

Through this festival, you can taste cherries and typical regional desserts such as Bettelman, Schwarzwälder, Gesundheitskuchen, Kersche Kiechle, and many more... Once you've enjoyed all these delicious treats, come and enjoy a country dance followed by a fireworks display.

The orchards of Westhoffen

The location of the orchards in Westhoffen on clay-limestone soil and a gentle slope allows it to promote arboriculture. This cultivation is deeply rooted in the life and tradition of the commune, which enables them to claim the title of the Cherry Capital of Alsace. A conservatory garden spanning 1.25 hectares allows you to discover 250 trees such as apple trees, pear trees, almond trees, or rowan trees, as well as 45 varieties of cherries. Since 1999, the "Association of Fruit Producers from Westhoffen and its Surroundings" has been responsible for these orchards and aims to promote the biological diversity of local varieties to ensure their preservation through their expertise.
