A combination of vineyards and forests, the village of Balbronn covers 1019 hectares and has a population of around 590. Its rich and diverse past has left its mark in the form of its heritage treasures: the Protestant church with its 11th century nave and its 12th century tower built on the site of a former Celtic sanctuary, the Catholic church built in 1905 and the 1895 synagogue. The commune’s dynamism springs from its two major assets: its arable farming and its viticulture. Balbronn enjoys a favoured location close to the administrative centre of the canton, 25 km from Strasbourg and 10 km from Molsheim. Its vineyards, a picturesque patchwork full of natural authenticity, are renowned and bear evocative names: “Winburne” (fountain of wine), "Wingarde" (wine garden), and "Wissard" (white earth).
It has a bakery which also serves as a post office and houses a small groceries section, open every morning apart from Sundays, from 7 to 10.
