Follow the D218 (direction Wasselonne Romanswiller), take the D224 and go through the hamlet of Freudeneck where you can see the last sawmill in the village.
At the entrance to the village of Romanswiller, situated on the edge of the forest and at the confluence of the Mossig and Sommerau rivers, turn left in the direction of Allenwiller and at the second crossroads turn right onto the RD817.
Cross the village of Allenwiller where 10 fountains have been running night and day since the 20th century.
At the second crossroads turn right onto the RD817. Once through the village, head towards Salenthal, stay on the main road and then turn left to reach Birkenwald where you will see the Renaissance castle. Continue in the direction of Wangenbourg (DD229) then turn right in the direction of Obersteigen where you can freely visit the 13th century chapel. Follow the D218 to Wangenbourg and then turn right towards Obersteigen where you can freely visit the 13th century chapel.
